Understanding the schedule

Why these specific dates

  1. Each date follows a significant tithi

Amavasya (new moon) and Ekadashi dates within the Hindu lunisolar calendar are considered especially auspicious for ritual bathing — each of the three principal 2027 dates falls on one.

  2. The third Amrit Snan splits across two days

11 September is set aside for the Vaishnava Akhadas' procession; 12 September, at Kushavarta Tirtha in Trimbakeshwar, for the Shaiva orders — a structure unique to how Nashik's twin sites divide the ceremony.

  3. The long gap between opening and closing is normal

Nearly two years separate Dhwajarohan from Flag Lowering. Smaller Parva Snan dates and ongoing Kalpavas observance fill the calendar between the headline Amrit Snan dates.
